District 7020 Rotaract Conference on June 4 - 8, 2009 in St. Maarten

Fellow Rotarians,

Exciting things continue to happen in District 7020 Rotaract and I want to ensure you are all aware of them so you can share with your club members.

1. The District now boasts a new Rotaract Club of Anguilla which was recently chartered. Congratulations to the Anguilla Rotary Club for their excellent work! I'm sure your club and indeed your country and the District as a whole will reap great benefits from this effort.

2. The Rotary Club of Liguanea Plains in Jamaica is taking steps to charter a new Rotaract club. The proposed charter members have been meeting regularly and are putting the necessary documents together for their charter. Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Liguanea Plains which is only 3 years old - one of the youngest clubs in the District!

3. Final steps are also being taken to charter a new Rotaract Club in Haiti. Special commendation must be given to the Rotarians in Haiti who continue to do tremendous work with their Rotaract clubs in spite of the challenges faced by the country especially following the recent hurricanes. Great work! Keep it up!

4. President of the Rotaract Club of Montego Bay in Jamaica, Taraja Richards, has been awarded the Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship to pursue her Masters Degree in Civil Engineering at McGill University in Canada. Kudos to her sponsoring club the Rotary Club of Montego Bay who assisted President Taraja greatly in this wonderful achievement!

5. Upcoming events for your support -

(a) Interclub Assembly in Mandeville, Jamaica on February 28, 2009.

(b) World Rotaract Week on March 9 - 15, 2009.

(c) District 7020 Rotaract Conference on June 4 - 8, 2009 in St. Maarten.

(d) 2009 International RYLA on June 19 - 21, 2009 in Birmingham.

I am encouraging all clubs which haven't yet sponsored a Rotaract club to get on board as Rotaract is one of Rotary International's most fantastic youth programmes. I remain available to answer any queries you may have on Rotaract and the District Rotaract Board stands ready to assist in getting your new Rotaract Club organized or your existing Rotaract club re-energized.

Stay tuned for more great news!

Yours in Rotary service,
Rtn. Kameika Fullerton-DeLisser
